I’ve just found her arguments to be utterly baseless. I mean, yes, the Lexicon has always taken its ideas very closely from the source material and isn’t like a university grade textbook, but it’s no different from what it was when it was online, so why didn’t she sue then? There’s a clear distinction in her head between the reality of a book and the fluid nature of the web, and she feels that the former is the only important one.

She also can’t have it both ways when she says that it’s terrible, and that its going to impact on her book sales. I mean, if a terrible, badly made book that rips off fans is bought instead of your own work, what does that say about your work?

The main problem here as far as I can see it, is that she’s writing her own guide to the wizarding world, and that this book covers most of the territory that she wanted to cover. But you can’t sue someone for reproducing a book that you haven’t yet published if they haven’t seen it.

So yeah, as you say, she got a bit crazy…
