Lego Mosaic: Light Red Over Black by Mark Rothko

Posted by: minifigpootles on: 17 January, 2008

I’ve been playing with a couple of Lego Mosaic kits I bought cheap after Christmas, and I was quite chuffed with this. The original is in the Tate Gallery and is one of my favourite works of art.

Any other suggestions as to art that would work well in Lego Mosaic form gratefully received!

I can’t help but feel you may have started at the easy end of the spectrum of possible artworks.

How about an excerpt of a lichtenstein?

I certainly did start at the easy end of the spectrum. Although, if we’re being adventurous, Lichtenstein would only fall near the middle. I mean, something like this Richard Dadd would be aiming a little higher!

I have done a few LEGO mosaics, from easy (like my Packer logo) to much harder. I’ve even posted instructions for a couple of them…

I started out with some really basic mosaics that I haven’t ever posted about. Watch out, once you start building these things it’s easy to get addicted!

I’m beginning to get a little addicted already - I shall have to put some more of mine up. None of them are quite up to your standards though, I have to admit!
