The Cerne Homer Simpson and Well-Executed Marketing

Posted by: minifigpootles on: 28 July, 2007

I haven’t yet seen The Simpsons Movie, but I’ve been impressed with their marketing. They’ve converted a load of 7-Eleven’s into Kwik-E-Marts in the US and with much whinging from local pagans, painted a huge Homer Simpson next to the Cerne Abbas Giant:

I was even briefly mentioned on Boing Boing suggesting a puerile version from b3ta. Even those apparently evil chaps at The Pirate Bay have been getting into the act with a modified picture on their front page:
And I love the Spider-Pig trailer:

Well done Simpsons marketing people. Although I still haven’t actually seen the movie yet…

The “whinging” from local pagans that you mention is largely to do with the fact that these idiots used water-based pain…..forgetting that cars are painted with such paints these days. As a result this cheap stunt isn’t washing away, causing a lot of anger among local viallgers.

DOH! indeed…

Really? Clearly spending that much time with Homer has had an effect on their brains.

That does make their complaints a lot more valid, I have to admit…
