When I was in my teens, I collected quotes. I never really liked reading long books, and preferred my knowledge in snippets. Anyway, the result of this is I’ve got hundreds of quotes from various sources in notebooks, computer files, and one remarkably well hidden website which I started back in 1996, and haven’t updated since 1999.
So I thought I’d twitter them, as and when I feel like it. If you use twitter, you can find the twitter feed at twitter.com/twitterquote. Tell your friends.
It’s also worth bearing in mind that I was a pretty depressed teenager - these aren’t likely to be the sort of quotes to really brighten your day. No motivational speakers here. Enjoy!
Thanks - it’s a great quote. Russell, for all his faults, knew how to craft an aphorism.
It’s actually quite enjoyable to go through them all again. There are some real gems I’ve found that I’d totally forgotten about. Nice to think that at least a few more people might see them!

Good idea. I find it always feels good to draw together all those disparate bits of a long-abandoned project.
My favourite quotation so far is your one from Bertrand Russell; alas, it is very true.
